Fit Fixins Healthy Meals - HQ Visit

Whilst on holiday in Florida visiting her Dad and Step Mum and other relatives in March 2018, Rachel Garwood the founder of YourCook was kindly invited to visit Fix Fixins a healthy meal prep delivery service in Port St Lucie, Florida (an east cost city which is approximately 125 miles southeast of Orlando and 114 miles northwest of Miami). To order Fix Fixin Meals, visit their website here.

Fit Fixins was founded by
Clyde Tiger who by 2011, had lost 50 lbs through changing is diet and more exercise. Throughout the course of his weight loss journey, Tiger was also able to help others with achieving and maintaining a  healthier lifestyle. This was the catalyst for Clyde to leave a 15 year career in the construction industry and pursue his new found passion of helping people reach their ideal fitness levels and optimise their nutrition through Personal Training.

Working as personal trainer at a local gym in St. Lucie West, Florida, Tiger realised that some of his clients were not seeing the results they desired and trained for, due to poor nutrition. While staying true to his passion of helping people lose weight and improve their health, Tiger started preparing healthy meals for two of his clients.  Within a few weeks, he was preparing meals for 10 clients in the evening while continuing to work as a personal trainer during the day and so in early 2014, Tiger opened his own meal prep business, Fit Fixins. Within a few months Tiger went from less than 10 clients to preparing and delivering close to 1,000 meals.

My chance meeting with Tiger occurred because we were both at the Dr Oz, Sixth Annual WPBF 25 Health & Wellness event at the Port St Lucie Civic Center on 10th March 2018. Some footage from Dr Oz's talk at the event can be found here. Dr Oz is a cardiotharacic surgeon, talk show host and became a regular guest on The Oprah Winfrey Show beginning in 2004. In 2009, the Dr Oz Show, a daily television program focusing on medical issues and personal health, was launched by Winfrey's Harpo Productions and Sony Pictures Television.

Furthermore, Fit Fixins are committed to supporting the community through the Albert Wilson Foundation, a charitable cause that makes a positive impact in the community.

The Albert Wilson Foundation is committed to creating opportunities that will enhance the lives of youth in foster care, to change the destiny of foster children and break the cycle of abuse, neglect and abandonment. It strives to support youth during their transition in and out of foster care. The goal is to provide scholarships to those wishing to continue their education outside the state of Florida, in addition to rewarding youth who continue to excel in the classroom and extracurricular, despite all obstacles and circumstances.

Albert Wilson is a wide receiver for the Miami Dolphins is a native of Fort Pierce, Florida. His passion and motivation to give back to youth in foster care stems from his personal experiences in the foster care system growing up. Albert spent majority of his childhood years in and out of group homes and foster homes before finally finding stability in the 10th grade. Prior to his sophomore year of high school, he spent time at the Hibiscus Center in Vero Beach, Florida and a Boys Town in Oviedo, Florida. After spending time at these locations Albert found a home with Brian and Rose Bailey in Port St. Lucie, Florida before moving in with family members in the same district so he could continue attending Port St. Lucie High School.

“While growing up, I spent significant time in the Florida Foster Care system. I was blessed to continue my education due to my athletic abilities, but witnessing my younger sisters and others I knew age out of the system motivated me to get involved and be a voice for children in foster care.”

Albert through his foundation wants to use his platform to reach youth who are in the same situation he was once in. Since entering the NFL Albert has served as a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kansas City, and travels to speak to youth in the Treasure Coast during the offseason.
